At the Goethe Institute, an event dedicated to women in nature protection<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n

The Women’s Network for the Protection of Nature and the Environment invites you to a gathering and panel discussion “Meet the female guardians of nature”, which will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 7 pm at the Goethe Institute (Kneza Mihaila 50, Belgrade). The event includes the premiere screening of the documentary film “Nature to the Rescue”, which sheds light on the work of the Network and points to the consequences of mining activities in Homolj and Eastern Serbia. <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

At the event, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the history of the Network, its members and their inspiring stories from the field. The documentary film, filmed during the sixth meeting of the Women’s Network in November 2024, follows its establishment, past activities and influence, with a special focus on current environmental struggles. <\/p>\n\n

This year, the Network held a meeting in Homolje, an area of \u200b\u200brich nature that is threatened by the plans of the Canadian company Dundee to open a gold mine. The goal of the film is to inspire solidarity and point out the devastating consequences of mining projects not only in this region but throughout Serbia. <\/p>\n\n

After the screening, experiences from environmental struggles will be shared in a panel discussion by:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

    The discussion will be moderated by Nata\u0161a Jan\u010di\u0107 from the organization Polekol.<\/p>\n\n

    Founded in 2020, the Women’s Network for Nature and Environmental Protection brings together more than 100 members from all over Serbia who come from various organizations and initiatives dedicated to nature protection. The network promotes solidarity among women in environmental movements, highlighting their contribution in key aspects \u2013 from mediation and conflict resolution to concrete struggles for a healthy environment. <\/p>\n\n

    Despite less visibility in patriarchal environments and organizations, women play a key role in protecting nature. That is why this event will present how much the Network and its brave members contribute to this fight. <\/p>\n\n
