Od akademskog polja političke teorije do ekoloških inicijativa i novih pokreta, Akademija Green Horizons će predstaviti, diskutovati i artikulisati demokratske, feminističke, održive i pravedne alternative.
Akademiju Green Horizons organizuje Zelena evropska fondacija uz podršku Polekola, a uz finansijsku podršku Evropskog parlamenta i Green European Foundation.
Draft oGreen Horizons Academy: The Good Story
The Green European Foundation and the Organization for Political Ecology POLEKOL are inviting you to join the first Green Horizons Academy, under the title The Good Story. The event will take place in Belgrade, Serbia, from 15th to 17th of October 2021.
The Green Horizons Academy is an educational programme that aims to expand the imaginary of the broad green movement towards the alternative livable future across Europe. This year’s Green Horizons Academy’s main topic is building a successful narrative around green values that resonates with broad public, therefore its title – THE GOOD STORY.
The programme will be held in a hybrid model, where selected participants are in physical space, and evening sessions are live-streamed for the public. Language of the event is BCS and English, and translation will be provided. Draft of the entire program is on this link.
Information how to participate in the closed part of the programme can be found here and you can apply for participation on this link. Deadline for applications is October 5th.
Addressing the climate crisis and environmental issues is a home ground for the greens, still, we need to be better equipped for the forthcoming battles of narratives, where everyone is “playing the green card”. Populists and conservative authoritarians, especially in countries with a weak green opposition, are casting a long shadow over every social movement, easily appropriating and incorporating environmentalism. Europe’s narrative of openness and solidarity has been put to the test amid the pandemic. The Academy is a space for theory and practice that can serve both for political actors to step into closer communication with the people, and for citizens to politicize the growing environmental struggles.
During three days of lectures, debates, and workshops, we hope to inspire European green actors and raise the capacities of citizens from South-East Europe in their approach to presenting green values and agenda. GHA will also examine the resilience of the existing Green political organizations in the region, and offers the space for authentic policy debates designed for and from the region. The time has come for green-minded actors to create a cultural uprising, painting our views as possible, tangible, and popular! From the academic field of political theory to the environmental activists and new movements, the Green Horizons Academy will present, discuss, and articulate democratic, feminist, sustainable and just alternatives.
The 3-day event consists of two interlinked parts of educational programme:
1) Closed daily sessions (selected participants only, in physical space) with workshops where we will try to answer: What is political ecology? How do we practice green values? How do we communicate green ideas? Who are the green allies with whom we can design the green agenda?
2) Public evening sessions (online) with lectures and panels covering topics: building green narratives, green-left answer to right wing environmentalism, affirmative-positive political culture, relations between green movements and green parties, European solidarity in the times of pandemic and other crisis.
Please share this event with your contacts that might be interested in a GOOD STORY!
The Green Horizons Academy is organized by the Green European Foundation with the support of Polekol, and with the financial support of the European Parliament to the Green European Foundation.
