Najava: Razbistrivanje – Clear Up

/English below

It’s time to clear up the muddy waters of pollution and privatization of water resources together!

The organization for political ecology Polekol and the Right to Water initiative invites you to the Clear Up conference, which will be organized from September 2 to 4 in Belgrade at the Miljenko Dereta Space in Ul. Dobračina. No. 55.

„We need to wake up and recognize the incoming crisis of water resources,“ said Peteri Talas, Secretary General of the United Nations World Meteorological Organization last year.  According to the report „The State of Climate Services 2021: Water“, the number of people with inadequate access to water will reach 5 billion by 2050. However, it is questionable to what extent it is a crisis that is incoming. During the summer of 2021, the Right to Water initiative collected information on as many as 23 local governments in Serbia that suffered restrictions in the water supply. The year 2022 broke all the records ever recorded when talking about the drought. It is estimated that a total of about one million people in Serbia permanently or occasionally do not have access to clean water, which is the result of climate change but also massive pollution, negligence and privatization of water resources.

For all these reasons, we want to gather environmental activists, experts and the academic public from Serbia and the region in one place – and make a plan!
